Welcome to the new HIMSS Medical Banking Project!

Roll up your sleeves as we invite you to work alongside us DESIGNING THE HEALTHCARE FINANCIAL NETWORK OF THE FUTURE, a global program underwritten by the new HIMSS Medical Banking Project! Join colleagues as we convene a roundtable of four key stakeholders (called "G7 Panelists") to define a better platform for managing our finite financial resources. We'll also review best practices in privacy and security as banks engage healthcare, learn about bank-enabled revenue cycle programs that are decreasing operating costs and hear about the emerging "health-wealth" paradigm that is transforming lifestyles in communities in America and around the globe.

"Just like throwing a stone in a pond, medical banking has created a ripple effect that has spread from community to community and is destined to reach the entire world. We cast that first stone in 2001 by organizing the medical banking community. Now join us as we expand the revolution with the new HIMSS MBProject at the 8th National Medical Banking Institute at HIMSS10!" -- John Casillas

Why should you participate? Industry leaders need to promote a broader vision that supports a sustainable health system and to do that we must address critical path issues that are draining our national resources within the healthcare financial network. This complex area is ripe with opportunity but requires multi-disciplinary thought to successfully transform established practices. Lead by pre-eminent leaders in healthcare, you will help us to explore critical path areas and uncover solutions.

No Time To Start Like The Present

To meet this need, HIMSS MBProject is launching a new strategy by convening key stakeholders that can design the Healthcare Financial Network of the Future...a network that doesn't drain 20 cents of every healthcare dollar spent (in the US alone), and one that can support the advancement of society into the health-wealth paradigm of the future. The network needs to help businesses and consumers balance twoareas – finances and health. It needs to optimize value, support better decisions and enable society to transition from disease management to improved lifestyle and wellness programs. Medical banking programs are evolving to meet these needs today!

We challenge industry leaders to think in these terms. We need to unclog paper in payment channels and liberate this data, placing it into the hands of people when they need it most – during times of emergency, family and community planning. Institutions understand that focusing on lifestyle, and not just disease management, is critical for surmounting the current hardships to deliver long term value and to support and promote dynamic economies at the community level. That means balancing financial management with clinical needs. Banks offer well established platforms for making this happen.

Chairman's Roundtable of G7 Panels

HIMSS MBProject is dedicated towards improving health in society using health information technology. Part of this must be addressing our healthcare financial network. To do this, HIMSS MBProject is launching the Chairman’s Roundtable to convene top healthcare stakeholders (providers, banks, employers and payors) clustered in “G7 panels” (seven top actors in each category). G7 Panelists will be committed to advancing a global health-wealth paradigm by creating systemic change in our healthcare financial network. Our initial design template, created by members at our 2009 Leadership Forum and facilitated by national experts at the Vanderbilt Center for Better Health will form the basis of our discussion. Work at the Institute will be added to the template, that will then shape our 2010-2011 initiatives.

We invite you to become part of the official launching of our new initiative – Designing the Healthcare Financial Network of the Future – and theme of the 8th National Medical Banking Institute @ HIMSS10 in Atlanta, Georgia at CNN Headquarters and Omni Hotel! Become part of a solution for healthier and happier communities around the globe!
